Needle-Free Systems
MV FREEFlow neelde-free systems are closed systems in which automatic connectors allow to connect lines together without opening the system, reducing risks for patients and operators.
In fact, hazardous drugs (HD) handling can potentially harm healthcare workers who are involved in compounding, transfer to IV bags and administration. Safe working practices including engineering controls are essential for reducing this risk, and employers are responsible for ensuring workers use sound procedures for HD handling and personal protective equipment.
The use of FREEFlow neelde-free closed system drug transfer devices (CSTDs) have become mandatory during administration of HDs, and recommended during compounding.
FREEFlow needle-free closed system are drug transfer devices that mechanically prohibits the transfer of environmental contaminants into the system and the escape of hazardous drug or vapor concentrations outside the system. FREEFlow devices are supplemental controls, meaning that they offer additional levels of protection during compounding and administration of drugs, and they utilise a needle-free pathway that when connected provides a channel for transfer of drugs and vapours, and when disconnected is closed and sealed.
