They are also used to take liquid from the body, such as in blood transfusion and venipuncture. An intradermal needle is a needle used for a shallow or superficial injection of a substance into the dermis. For certain substances, administration via an intradermal route can result in a faster systemic uptake. Additionally, since administration is closer to the surface of the skin, the body’s reaction to substances is more easily visible.
